No heat, no cooling, no drain: what the symptom usually tells you
A plain-language guide to the appliance symptoms that usually point to airflow, electrical, drain, control, or mechanical problems.
No heat is not always the heating part
A dryer, oven, or cooktop that does not heat may have a failed heating component, but controls, sensors, ignition parts, wiring, or airflow can be involved too. The useful repair path is to test the system before replacing parts.
No cooling often starts with airflow
Refrigerators and freezers need clean airflow around coils, fans, vents, and door seals. A sealed-system issue is possible, but frost buildup, failed fans, blocked vents, bad gaskets, and defrost problems are common checks first.
No drain can be mechanical or electrical
Dishwashers and washers can stop draining because of restrictions, pump failures, wiring problems, lid or door switches, boards, or installation issues. Standing water is a symptom, not the full diagnosis.
